Big Snow Resort acquisition closes; names to be phased out
BESSEMER & WAKEFIELD, Mich. (WLUC) – The purchase of the Big Snow Resort in Gogebic County by a Minnesota family has been finalized. The Skinner family bought the resort, which includes Indianhead and Blackjack hills.
The resort will be re-branded over the next few months to Snowriver Mountain Resort. Blackjack will be renamed to Black River Basin and Indianhead will be renamed to Jackson Creek Summit.
The base area names will be changed to remain sensitive to Native American cultures, and the new names are for the two rivers running between the resort. Big Snow Resort will be renamed to eliminate confusion since Big Snow Resort is used at another ski operation elsewhere.
“For us, it was in a location that enabled us to see a nice circle of resorts between Lutsen, Granite Peak, and Big Snow Resort property,” said Greg Fisher, Midwest Family Ski Resort chief marketing officer.

The photo of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, annotated
The government’s months-long effort to recover documents that were kept at Trump’s Florida residence after he left the White House doesn’t depend on that material being classified. But the question of whether Trump had classified material with him at his Mar-a-Lago resort has captured the public’s attention. The photo published by the government appears to answer that question quite affirmatively.

Explosive device found at Colorado resort, to be detonated by authorities
According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, an unexploded avalanche control device was discovered at Breckenridge Ski Resort. It’s now set to be detonated near the top of Peak 7 on Wednesday between 11 AM and 2 PM.
The detonation will likely sound similar to explosives used during avalanche work in winter months. There is no need for locals to call 911 when this is heard, according to the sheriff’s office.
While it might sound a bit wild that an explosive device was found in a mountainous area that gets explored by the public, it’s actually not that uncommon.
Throughout the winter season, these devices are used to keep the mountains safe and sometimes, devices simply don’t go off as intended.
For example, in 2019, the Colorado Department of Transportation – which typically isn’t involved with on-resort mitigation – used more than 1,500 explosive ordnances in backcountry areas that they’re

The Latest Developments On America’s Newest Ski Resort

“We’re making great inroads. We have great communication going with Extell and Mayflower, and the Mayflower project is something that we’re very interested in — only if it’s additive to Deer Valley.” – Mark Brownlie, Chief Operating Officer of Alterra Mountain Company in an interview with Ben Lasseter of KPCW.
The newest ski resort in the United States is inches closer to opening day. Mayflower Mountain Resort, which is being developed by Extell Utah, will be located just outside of Park City, and will directly access Deer Valley Resort. Fifteen lifts are expected when it’s fully built out, with room for future expansion. Their opening date for skiing is projected to be in late 2024 at the earliest.
While Utah is certainly in need of another public ski resort to spread the growing crowds out, some skeptics have expressed the following concerns about the new ski resort: the low
